FLIGHTS
From Nairobi, after a 55minute flight with Safarilink, you will find yourself at Loisaba airstrip, just 30 minute game drive from Sabuk Lodge. The Sabuk team will be there to meet you. Transfer to the lodge and settle in and enjoy the next 3 days full of adventure, with your experienced guides, walking, camel safaris, bush breakfasts and wild life viewing.
Sabuk Lodge - Northern Laikipia is home to thousands of elephant, greater kudu and the elusive wild dog. This is a great opportunity to explore and walk close to wildlife guided by magnificent tribesmen with their camels.
The Sabuk team has been leading camel safaris in this area for over 20 years. Days of adventure await you, walking amongst herds, quietly absorbing the sights and sounds of the bush. Surprise bush breakfasts, camel safaris, picnics, game viewing, star studded nights, river fishing and experiencing the bush-craft and skills of the wonderful Laikipiak Masai. The lodge itself is perched on a cliff overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River, open fronted cottages have fabulous views, on the inside huge comfortable olive beds, hot bubble baths, brightly colored local fabrics and artifacts adorn the walls. Delicious cuisine and tranquil decks invite some serious relaxation.
Early morning schedule flight to Mara. Land at Musiara airstrip where you will be met by the Serian team. Game drive back to camp, settle in and enjoy the next 3 days of some of the best game viewing in the world.
Serian Camp (meaning “peaceful, calm or serene” in Maa) is the charismatic bush home of Alex Walker, filmmaker and guide in the Masai Mara. Serian is set in a secluded valley. Its eight, stylish “marquees” overlook the waters of the Mara River. The furnishings evoke the safaris of a bygone era: the natural colours of woven carpets on hardwood flooring and swaths of cotton setting off a hand-carved stone bath with river view, and a large verandah from which to enjoy the animal coming to the Mara River.
Serian’s location in the North Mara Conservancy provides unsurpassed game-viewing: the migration of one and a half million wildebeest. Lion, Leopard and cheetah are year-round residents, feeding off the large herds of plains game sustained by the savannah. With over 450 species, the Mara is a birding hotspot. Serian also arranges helicopter flights, fly-camping and hot-air ballooning safaris.
Leave Serian mid morning so that you will be at the airstrip in time for your flight back to Wilson. Get a bite to eat at the coffee shop in Airkenya departure lounge and relax a bit before your next flight to Malindi. On arrival at Malindi airport, you will be met by the Delta team, waiting to whisk you away from the hustle and bustle of Malindi to the quiet and serene Delta Dunes.
Delta Dunes. The delta known as “The Wild Place by the Sea”, on one side of the lodge you can enjoy 50 kms of uninhabited and uninterrupted beach, with safe swimming and miles of rippling rolling sand dunes. On the other side of the beach you have a maze of salt water creeks and bush which is a sanctuary for the wildlife and over 280 bird species. We have access to the wetlands on the main Tana River, the only one of its type in Eastern Africa. You will be treated to fresh and fabulous cuisine, featuring mainly freshly caught seafood, local fruits and vegetables, home made pastas, and fresh fruit sorbets.
Activities include River Kayaking, creek fishing, sand-yatching, guided walks, river tubing, birding, boat trips, game drives by boat, sundowners and beach dinners. The pace can be slower than your previous safari homes.
After 3 nights at the Delta, transfer to Malindi, for some of the best shopping in Kenya. This little Swahili town has a throbbing pulse with local and colourful markets; a trade street full of fabrics, locally produced brass lamps, art, antiques, a halva maker, fish market and some fabulous old buildings. Lunch and transfer to Malindi airport for your flight with flight Air Kenya to Nairobi. Met upon arrival and transferred to the international airport for your homeward bound flight.
