    The Nest at Serian

Original price was: $ 1,510.Current price is: $ 1,170. Per adult per night
What does it take to find the perfect tree house? Located on the western side of the Mara River and only open to access by foot – thick with trees, valleys, rocks – we kept circling back to one particular spot: fifty metres from the water looking along a stretch that is filled by a raucous pod of hippo. A line of Warburgia stretches along a little draw, and a single tree at the end shows scars: a scratching post for a resident male leopard. The salt lick luring the impala leads to a hippo funnel and their small sandy beach.

    Ngare Serian

Original price was: $ 1,510.Current price is: $ 1,170. Per adult per night
Ngare translates to ‘by the river’ in the Masai language, and the idea behind this snug little camp was to transport the serenity of the original Serian camp to the water’s edge. Hugging the banks of the Mara, Ngare Serian is cosy and intimate. It can only be reached on foot, over a narrow rope bridge – and in a way the crossover is symbolic: a call to step out of touch and out of time, and give yourself over to the natural charm of the place. There’s something special about being on the water’s edge – the water slipping and sloshing over the stones sets a soothing soundtrack, but at the same time its energy and movement lends lightness and life – green shoots, verdant growth and glossy rocks that metamorphose into hippos.

  • Sand Rivers Selous

$ 1,120 Per adult per night
Sand Rivers Selous is perched right on the banks of the Rufiji River. All the main areas and rooms have superb river views. It was the first safari lodge to open in the Selous Game Reserve and as such, had the pick of locations. It’s really rather special in an area that is far away from the main hub of the park where you will hardly see another soul. Sand Rivers Selous has just 8 stone and thatched cottages, all are open-fronted and raised on decks overlooking the river. There are 5 Riverside rooms - with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers - and 3 Hillside Suites. The Suites have all the above, but a large living space and a small plunge pool.
  • Kiba Point Selous

$ 4,480 Per adult per night

Kiba Point is a private hideaway for families and friends, with just four suites reclining by the Rufiji River. With a private guide and camp staff, the freedom to explore the Selous is all there for the taking, on your timetable and your terms. Price shown is for 4 adults. Extra charge applies for each extra guest, with a limit of 10. Ask for a quotation based on group size. Perched on the banks of the Rufiji River, all main areas and rooms have superb river views. Richard Bonham had the pick of locations when he chose this place – we think you’ll agree it’s really rather special.
