Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and transfer to Arusha
Nestled on a lush coffee plantation just five minutes from Arusha Airport, Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge offers a charming and comfortable base at the start or end of your Tanzanian safari. Originally built as a coffee plantation homestead, the lodge blends history with luxury. Spacious rooms and suites are set among tranquil gardens, seamlessly integrated with the working coffee estate.
Food lovers will enjoy two on-site restaurants. At The Grill Room, the Executive Chef curates gourmet menus designed for discerning palates. The Bistro provides a more relaxed dining experience, serving wood-fired pizzas from the on-site oven alongside crisp, fresh salads.
Within the lodge grounds, Traders Walk invites guests to explore boutique shops and local culture. Highlights include Shanga, a vibrant workshop where artisans with disabilities craft unique art and jewelry from recycled materials, as well as a Tanzanite shop, gift store, and a welcoming café.
Day 2: Fly from Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Perched on the edge of Tarangire National Park, Tarangire Treetops offers a one-of-a-kind safari experience inside the exclusive Randilen Private Conservancy. This prime location gives guests access to night game drives, guided bush walks, and unforgettable sundowners in the wild.
At the heart of the lodge, a magnificent thousand-year-old baobab tree houses the main lounge and dining area. Surrounding it, 20 elevated treehouse suites rise among ancient marula and baobab trees, immersing guests in the sights and sounds of the forest canopy.
Each 65-square-metre open-fronted room blends traditional local materials with modern comfort, offering sweeping views over Tarangire National Park and the vast Randilen landscape. Staying here means connecting deeply with nature, guided by expert Maasai rangers who share their knowledge of wildlife, ecology, and culture.
Day 4: Fly to Northern Serengeti (June to December)
Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp sits in a remote corner of the northern Serengeti, nestled among rugged rocky outcrops and overlooking the wildlife-rich Grumeti River. Designed with natural wood and canvas, the camp blends classic safari style with modern comfort. Guests can relax in a split-level lounge, cool off in the swimming pool, or take in panoramic views from elevated viewing decks that showcase the Serengeti’s dramatic landscapes.
The camp lies directly on the path of the Great Wildebeest Migration. Between July and August, thousands of wildebeest thunder north toward the Masai Mara, and later in the year they return across the plains. Yet the magic of the Serengeti extends well beyond the migration. Year-round, the park teems with predators, elephants, giraffes, and countless plains game, making it one of the world’s richest and most spectacular ecosystems.
Day 4: Fly to Central Serengeti (January to May)
Perched on the slopes of the Olgarabosho Hills, Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp offers sweeping views over the Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi, and the endless Serengeti plains. The camp’s original lounge, built by renowned conservationist and wildlife filmmaker Alan Root, adds a touch of history to this iconic safari retreat. Its secluded location in the southern Serengeti places guests in prime position to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration and embark on unforgettable game drives.
Days at Pioneer Camp begin with an early champagne picnic breakfast, continue with thrilling wildlife encounters and a private picnic lunch on a rocky outcrop, and end with sundowners overlooking the vast plains.
The tented suites combine safari authenticity with modern comfort. Each features throw rugs, soft furnishings crafted from sustainable local materials, and vintage touches such as leather trunks and lanterns. En suite bathrooms include a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and period-style hot shower, evoking the romance of early 20th-century safaris while ensuring contemporary convenience.
Day 6: Fly to Manyara Airstrip and Karatu by Ngorongoro Crater
Tucked away on the Shangri-La Estate, a 1,500-acre working Arabica coffee plantation near the Ngorongoro Crater, Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro blends old-world charm with modern luxury. Once a farmhouse, the main building showcases Cape Dutch architecture, surrounded by 20 private guest cottages nestled in lush gardens. Inside, rich dark-wood floors, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, antique furnishings, Persian rugs, and claw-foot tubs filled with rose petals create an indulgent retreat.
Guests can immerse themselves in the estate’s beauty with guided coffee tours, leisurely walks or horseback rides through the plantation. For relaxation, unwind by the swimming pool or cozy up with a book by the fireplace, all while enjoying the serenity of the Ngorongoro highlands.
Day 8: Fly Back to Arusha for Lunch and Dayroom / Transfer & Depart from Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, take a short scenic flight from Lake Manyara to Arusha, followed by a transfer to Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge. Enjoy a fresh garden lunch and relax in a comfortable dayroom before your road transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure.
