Ugalla River National Park
The park comprises 3865 square kilometres of the greater wildlife spectacle and this is your chance to walk amongst it all. In 2019, Ugalla River National Park was converted from the previous Game Reserve status. There are no other lodges or camps in this area, and the amazing river landscape is in the pre-development phase for traditional tourism, remaining in the meantime, a remarkable wilderness, home to many species not seen in the North of Tanzania. Nomad has always had a particular attraction to this kind of wild, this is where it all began and now operates during a few months of each year one of it's Expeditionary Walking Camps. These camps also operate in Ruaha and Serengeti National Park's remote areas. The simple walking camp, is a conscious step back to Nomad's roots as safari pioneers, because while the world may have changed, the things that make a safari exceptional haven’t. The Expeditionary Walking Camp is the ultimate way for a group of friends or family to get off-grid in little known areas of Tanzania. The experience is adventurous by its very nature, but much of the pleasure is the gentle rhythm that establishes itself on your safari. Price shown is for 3+ guests. For 2 guests, the daily rate is US$ 1540 per person Ugalla River National Parks Flier -

Jabali Ridge has Ruaha’s most sophisticated accommodation. Hidden amongst boulders high on a kopje, it looks out over a landscape studded with palm trees and baobabs. Beho Beho was the first camp in The Selous Game Reserve to be sited in its cooler highlands. Here it enjoys 'cooling breezes' from which it derives its name. Designated a private camp, it has fiercely protected its individuality and privileged location. It is one of the most magical places to visit in safari Africa. Beho Beho is not really a camp in the true sense of the word. It has individual bandas built of stone, with palm-leaf thatched roofs. Therefore it is not the tented accommodation often associated with a camp. Nor is it a safari lodge either, as it has only eight bandas, four on one side of the main house and four on the other. Think of Beho Beho as a home, a very private home situated in the middle of the African bush. Owned by the Bailey family for over forty years, they now share their "home in the bush". A fortunate few are able to share their enjoyment of Beho Beho, one of their favourite places in the world. -
Sand Rivers Selous is perched right on the banks of the Rufiji River. All the main areas and rooms have superb river views. It was the first safari lodge to open in the Selous Game Reserve and as such, had the pick of locations. It’s really rather special in an area that is far away from the main hub of the park where you will hardly see another soul. Sand Rivers Selous has just 8 stone and thatched cottages, all are open-fronted and raised on decks overlooking the river. There are 5 Riverside rooms - with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers - and 3 Hillside Suites. The Suites have all the above, but a large living space and a small plunge pool. -
A grove of Kigelia (Sausage Tree) is home to this simple but comfortable tented camp. Ruaha National Park has to be one of the most scenic in Tanzania. It has acres upon acres of baobab studded plains, sweeping sand rivers, swathes of woodland and seemingly impossible balancing granite boulders, all surrounded by seriously impressive game populations. Kigelia Ruaha sits right in the middle of it all, flanked by ancient baobab forests and overlooking the dry river bed of the Ifuguru River. Ruaha surprisingly is relatively undiscovered and receives far fewer visitors than its more famous counterparts in the north of the country. So, on safari out here you have it almost all to yourself. -
Kiba Point is a exclusive-use lodge for up to 10 persons situated just down river from Sand Rivers Selous. One of the greatest privileges here is to be properly left alone in nature. Kiba Point is a private hideaway for families and friends, with just four suites reclining by the Rufiji River. With a private guide and camp staff, the freedom to explore the Selous is all there for the taking, on your timetable and your terms. Price shown is per adult based on a group of 4 persons. Extra charge applies for each extra guest, with a limit of 10. Ask for a quotation based on group size. Perched on the banks of the Rufiji River, all main areas and rooms have superb river views. Richard Bonham had the pick of locations when he chose this place – we think you’ll agree it’s really rather special. -
Chada Katavi belongs to the beasts
Chada Katavi belongs to the beasts of Africa, it always has, as if they were all created here in this remote place. This is the promise of Katavi - total absorption in the natural world and virtually no one else around. Katavi really is one of the final frontiers. This is a true wilderness which is all about enjoying being out on safari without the crowds, in fact often without any company at all. Chada Katavi is only open for six months of the year (June - November) and we think everyone should be clambering over themselves to get here - it really is worth it.
