Serian Serengeti Kusini is a mobile camp created to make the most of the spectacular wildebeest migration. From December to March, it is perched on the edge of the short grass plains, a perfect vantage point over the vast space where the Wildebeest herds amass to give birth to their young. Serian’s Serengeti is a mobile camp and from mid-December to May, it's set up on the southernmost extreme of the Serengeti’s short grass plains: prime position to spectate the wildebeest birthing season. Dramatic savannah storms sweep in nourishment and new life, and an innate primordial urge pulls the wildebeest to the site of their origins to reproduce. The plains literally come to life for the birthing season. Millions of gnus and zebra dominate the landscape, looking for the fresh green grass that follows the first rains – and to give birth to their young. Serian Serengeti South Camp is located close to the Laetoli footprints an archeological site of some renown. This area is positioned ideally to witness the remarkable Wildebeest Migration birthing season. "Serian" becomes the base from which you have exclusive access to hundreds of thousands of acres of acacia clad woodland filled with huge abundance of wildlife. Ubuntu Camp has just 7 tents and is designed to reach key wildlife areas. It is lightweight enough to move seasonally, and while doing so, offers every comfort possible. Each tent is either a double or a twin with an ensuite bathroom with safari shower. A small veranda and seating area allows guests to enjoy the peace of the bush in their own space. The communal areas are set around an open fire. These include a dining area and a sitting area from where guests can enjoy the space this wilderness offers. -
Beho Beho was the first camp in The Selous Game Reserve to be sited in its cooler highlands. Here it enjoys 'cooling breezes' from which it derives its name. Designated a private camp, it has fiercely protected its individuality and privileged location. It is one of the most magical places to visit in safari Africa. Beho Beho is not really a camp in the true sense of the word. It has individual bandas built of stone, with palm-leaf thatched roofs. Therefore it is not the tented accommodation often associated with a camp. Nor is it a safari lodge either, as it has only eight bandas, four on one side of the main house and four on the other. Think of Beho Beho as a home, a very private home situated in the middle of the African bush. Owned by the Bailey family for over forty years, they now share their "home in the bush". A fortunate few are able to share their enjoyment of Beho Beho, one of their favourite places in the world. -
Sand Rivers Selous is perched right on the banks of the Rufiji River. All the main areas and rooms have superb river views. It was the first safari lodge to open in the Selous Game Reserve and as such, had the pick of locations. It’s really rather special in an area that is far away from the main hub of the park where you will hardly see another soul. Sand Rivers Selous has just 8 stone and thatched cottages, all are open-fronted and raised on decks overlooking the river. There are 5 Riverside rooms - with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers - and 3 Hillside Suites. The Suites have all the above, but a large living space and a small plunge pool. -
A grove of Kigelia (Sausage Tree) is home to this simple but comfortable tented camp. Ruaha National Park has to be one of the most scenic in Tanzania. It has acres upon acres of baobab studded plains, sweeping sand rivers, swathes of woodland and seemingly impossible balancing granite boulders, all surrounded by seriously impressive game populations. Kigelia Ruaha sits right in the middle of it all, flanked by ancient baobab forests and overlooking the dry river bed of the Ifuguru River. Ruaha surprisingly is relatively undiscovered and receives far fewer visitors than its more famous counterparts in the north of the country. So, on safari out here you have it almost all to yourself.
