Ubuntu Migration Camp has just 8 tents and is designed to reach key wildlife areas. It is lightweight enough to move seasonally, and while doing so, offers every comfort possible. Each tent is either a double or a twin with an ensuite bathroom with safari shower. A small veranda and seating area allows guests to enjoy the peace of the bush in their own space. The communal areas are set around an open fire. These include a dining area and a sitting area from where guests can enjoy the space this wilderness offers.

Description
Ubuntu Migration Camp is seasonally mobile
Ubuntu operates in the prime wildlife areas of Southern and Northern Serengeti. Animals are unpredictable by nature and there is limited availability of good campsites to choose from. As a result, proximity to the Migration can’t be guaranteed.
When in Northern Serengeti, Ubuntu Migration Camp is set in the stunning area to the North of the Mara River, known as the Lamai wedge. This provides access to the Mara River and the open plains to the Kenya border. In the South, camp is in the Kusini area, 15 minutes from Serengeti South airstrip. Here, shady acacia trees help keep the camp cool during midday. Resident guides explore the areas in depth, depending on each guest’s requirement and the busy local animal activity.
Comments
Ubuntu Migration Camp has just reopened in the 2024 high season after undergoing a complete refurbishment with new tents and interiors to freshen up the experience. Still a seasonal camp, it now only moves between northern Serengeti and southern Serengeti, sadly as many others, now leaving out the Western Corridor area of the park. This has much to do with reducing the impact of heavy equipment required to each time these camps move. In the past, seasonal camps were simpler affairs with lighter weight interiors and furnishings, smaller tents and less in the way of solar panels etc. The trend is toward ever higher standards and we would not be surprised if at some point these magical seasonal camps will have to put down roots and become permanent lodges. That would be a shame! For an even higher spec seasonal camp, take a look at Asilia’s Olakira Migration Camp.
