Sand Rivers Selous is perched right on the banks of the Rufiji River. All the main areas and rooms have superb river views. It was the first safari lodge to open in the Selous Game Reserve and as such, had the pick of locations. It’s really rather special in an area that is far away from the main hub of the park where you will hardly see another soul. Sand Rivers Selous has just 8 stone and thatched cottages, all are open-fronted and raised on decks overlooking the river. There are 5 Riverside rooms - with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers - and 3 Hillside Suites. The Suites have all the above, but a large living space and a small plunge pool. -
A grove of Kigelia (Sausage Tree) is home to this simple but comfortable tented camp. Ruaha National Park has to be one of the most scenic in Tanzania. It has acres upon acres of baobab studded plains, sweeping sand rivers, swathes of woodland and seemingly impossible balancing granite boulders, all surrounded by seriously impressive game populations. Kigelia Ruaha sits right in the middle of it all, flanked by ancient baobab forests and overlooking the dry river bed of the Ifuguru River. Ruaha surprisingly is relatively undiscovered and receives far fewer visitors than its more famous counterparts in the north of the country. So, on safari out here you have it almost all to yourself. -

Kuro Tarangire is nestled right in the middle of Tarangire National Park, just 15 minutes drive from the Kuro airstrip. The camp's central location means you get away from the crowds that often linger closer to the park gate. It is important to have your own corner of this special park all to yourselves, while still within striking distance of the Silale swamp. Silale can be a real hub of wildlife activity and is well worth a visit. Kuro camp is small and intimate, with a cosy mess area that draws inspiration from the Maasai. Entamanu Ngorongoro sits on the remote Northwestern corner of the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The camp is accessed via its own road from where there are spectacular views down over the Southern Serengeti before popping up over the Rim to the immensity of the Crater below. This is one of the only sites at the Crater where it is still an experience of the Crater as it used to be. Far from the crowds, tucked away and remote. This site is in the only place where you can watch the sun rise over the Crater, and set over the Serengeti. It can be cold here, it can be windy and it can be foggy, but come prepared and the reward is great. This is how it feels to really live on the edge of the world, right up close and personal with the wild of these volcanic highlands.
