Chada Katavi belongs to the beasts of Africa, it always has. As if they were all created here in this remote place. This is the promise of Katavi – total absorption in the natural world and virtually no one else around. Katavi really is one of the final frontiers. This is a true wilderness which is all about enjoying being out on safari without the crowds, in fact often without any company at all. Chada Katavi is only open for six months of the year (June – November) and we think everyone should be clambering over themselves to get here – it really is worth it.
Chada Katavi Camp
Chada Katavi is small and intimate with just six East African safari tents. Each of them is spacious and comfortable with wide-open fronts giving you panoramic views of the plain and animal life that constantly comes and goes. Chada Katavi is designed to be a stylishly simple bushcamp with a footprint that remains light without unnecessary fripperies but you’ll still find all your needs taken care of.
The en-suite bathrooms are reached via zipped flaps and all have eco-flush loos and an urn of cool water to refresh yourself. Safari style bucket showers are the best thing here, tried and tested and there is no better way to wash off the Katavi dust than under one of these. In a clearing are a dining tent and a library, both are comfortable little spaces to while away the hours when you’re not out in the midst of a safari adventure. An evening drink around the campfire is the essence of safari, helping to round off a day of excitement out in the wild.
